Could you give you guys give some tips, strategy, links, etc on this game? Whats stakes should i start at on ftp?
FLH is a great game. For me NL and FL are two different games.
So which stakes should you play? If I’m not wrong you’re playing the $1/2 NLH right? So stating with the $0.50/1 FL sound good to me (even if I’m sure you can play the 1/2…Maybe even the $2/4, $3/6 FL)
FLH tips? Don’t be afraid to call with Ace high on the river (depending on the situation of course) A lot of player will try to bluff to you until the river, with hands like KQ, A rag…etc. In the long run, you will make profit with your Ace high call. Position, Position. You already know that with NLH, But it’s also true with FLH, especially to win a few more bets from your opponents. That’s the main point in Limits games. it’s not about winning pots, it’s about winning bets.
Your kicker is very important in FLH…You don’t want to find yourself out kicked.
In FLH you really want to take control of the action. Like isolate your opponents. If you’re the one who is the three bettor pre-flop, you’re the one in control. Sure you need to me more patient, and the choice of your starting hands change compare to a NLH table. But if you have position, for example the value of your suited connectors is great. You will almost have the pot odds to call every time. Just be careful with the type of draw you might have (don’t want to be to loose either)
Don’t slow play your monster! You want to make them pay before the flop. If you have QQ’s KK’s in early position, you don’t want a MP calling you with A rag and getting lucky. Bet your set (especially against several opponents, and if the board is scary), if you flop them, bet, raise or re-raise. Don’t worry about having a top pair (even two pairs) players calling you. You will get action! Players often feel like aggression in FLH is more a proof of weakness.
I would suggest you to play full tables. If you decide to play shorthanded, think of three thing: You’re ready to play a hand, so raise it up! Hand worth playing (especially in FLH) is worth raising! Be aggressive, and think of isolate your opponents…That’s the key right there. Period. You want to be the aggressor.

if your just starting out with limit, i would try and play with play (fake) money to begin with. you can play it just like no limit if you want but i know some that will play it a little different, like if they hit a set on the flop they come out betting instead of laying back and trying to trap the others. it all depends on how you play and how well you feel playing limit. i came across this a few days ago and i dont know if it will help you or not but i will pass it on to you and the link to it as well. it is Untold Poker Secrets and the link to it is http://www.bigleagueplayersclub.com/3clicks/published/56475/155347/ i hope that this will help you out and i wish you luck when you do play limit.

i think if you are learning any new game(i saw you discussing possibly learning PLO, sorry i didn't get a chance to answer that question because that is my second favorite game and i always thought i had some decent insight into that game) that you should start small, and move up just like you would if you were just beginning at no-limit hold'em again
there are a million situation-specific differences between limit and no-limit, but basically you need to play the game in a very mechanical fashion, especially when you are new…if you are the first one in the pot, raise it up, never open-limp, and if you choose to limp behind limpers be careful with what hands you choose to do so…if you have a decent hand behind limpers get aggressive with it
as a general rule of thumb on the flop, if you put in the final bet before the flop then you should bet any flop and raise any decent flop if bet into…if an opponent put in the final bet, then generally you should check to the raiser and let him bet, and then try for a c/r on any decent flop…this does not apply to every situation, especially at low limits where the play tends to be loose passive, but as you move up this general rule is very useful
also, don't be afraid to bluff, a lot of people will say how much more difficult it is to bluff in limit, and it is especially at low limits, but you can't be scared to bluff someone that you think can be run off…certain things still apply in limit even though it is a very mechanical game, like reading ability
as a final note, one comparison i like to make from limit to no limit is that no limit is generally a game of finesse, there are so many options open to you and you need to utilize all of them, and the most creative plays are often effective not only in the play of the hand but in your image…limit, on the other hand, is a game of brute aggression and force, because you can't dictate pot odds to your opponent and the only way to go is straight ahead, jamming the pot when you have the goods
i have to say, it's great to see you try to expand your horizons to new games

Limit hold'em is more a game of the long haul. It's also a raising game - there are a lot of times when you will try to raise to eliminate players. A lot of times you will bet/raise to build the pot to give yourself pot odds on the turn. A lot of times you have to try for a check-raise (in early position esp) just on the hope that you can raise to get people out. You will be called a lot more times all the way to the river, You will get sucked out more because of this.
It's a different game than NL (or PL) HE - it's a game where aggression is VERY important, but not done correctly and you will loose your chips (even at 2/4 you'll be pumping ~$10-20 into each pot you play). A LAG will usually be destroyed in a limit HE game IF it has some good players, but at a weak table will actually dominate fairly often. Many pros actually play nothing but limit (though you never hear about them).
I recommend getting a book - Sklansky has a book on loose low-limit games, and another for higher limits. Ken Warren's book is supposed to be pretty good (I just got it - I'll read it someday…). 2+2 has a website where theory in all poker games is discussed (sklansky's publisher).
Also, I recommend freeroll tournaments - the play can get fairly good after about 2/3 of the players are gone (at poker starz the freerolls are always at different times - which means that you should be able to play 1-2 a week w/o destroying your schedule). To start out at cash tables - I recommend free/lowest stakes possible until you get a feel for the game - many NL HE players are astounded at the number of "mistakes" that players make (they're actually not mistakes because of the bet size/limit). In fact, I recommend the lowest stakes (or at least a max of $1/$2) until you are a consistent winner at that level. Like in NL HE, the quality of play often increases dramatically as the stakes increase.
Good Luck - have fun!
